Angie Gray Physio Whangamata

ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Angie. I’m a New Zealand trained Physiotherapist with a special interest in both neurological rehabilitation and pelvic health. I graduated from AUT University in 2009 and subsequently worked in a variety of neuro rehabilitation settings including acute, rehabilitation and community, in NZ, Melbourne and London. For the past 3 years I’ve managed the physiotherapy service on an acute stroke unit in a busy central London hospital.

After having a baby in 2020 in the UK I became interested in the world of pelvic health. Mum’s I met through antenatal groups were lacking education and advice regarding their post natal recovery, and had very limited knowledge around how to safely return to physical exercise. Since then I have been on a mission to learn all I can about pelvic health conditions including how to support mums on their journey both pre and postnatally.

I have completed Mummy MOT courses in the UK followed by several courses in NZ run by SAND’s and Melissa Davidson (internals and intermediate course).

I have a special interest in spasticity management and return to running rehabilitation for both my neuro and pelvic health clients.

In my spare time you’ll find me running around after my 2 young boys, exploring our local bush or heading to a yoga class.

MY APPROACH

I take an open, caring and dynamic approach to your rehabilitation, keeping your goals and aspirations at the heart of how your therapy is tailored. I believe no one size fits all and each program needs to be centered around what is most important to you.

A firm believer of any movement is good movement, I incorporate principles from a variety of activities – yoga, pilates, strength and conditioning training, horseback riding, you name it! I love getting creative and thinking outside the square, looking at how best to facilitate you in your journey to being a stronger, healthier and happier version of yourself. I take a holistic approach to rehabilitation and incorporate all aspects of your health (physical, mental, emotional, psychological) into my practice.

I always try to keep sessions fun and enjoyable while ensuring my treatments are grounded in the latest research and evidence based practise. I thrive on being part of a journey, seeing my clients progress from injury or conditions restricting their day to day lives, to feeling empowered through knowledge, and being able to manage their conditions independently.
